Desiderio Ortofrutta is a family-run fruit and vegetable distributor with warehouses inside the Centro Agroalimentare Roma (CAR) wholesale market in Guidonia Montecelio. The family has traded produce since the early 1900s, first at Rome's old general markets; the Rome company was founded in 1964 and has operated as Desiderio S.r.l. since 2002. It links local and national growers with wholesale buyers across Lazio and central and southern Italy. Customers include supermarkets, shops, wholesalers, restaurants, bars, hotels, canteens, pastry shops and caterers. Orders are delivered seven days a week in refrigerated vans, including to Rome's historic centre under ZTL permits, and buyers can also pick goods in person at the CAR warehouses. For restaurants, cafés and bars it is a market wholesaler of fresh produce with daily delivery.
